Key takeaways
- Price depends mostly on square footage, ceiling height, trim and doors, and wall condition.
- Ceilings, trim and doors can double the scope of a walls-only job.
- An itemized, room-by-room quote is the only way to compare painters fairly.
What drives the cost of an interior repaint
The short answer is that every home is different, which is why we quote every project individually. The longer answer is that four things drive almost all of the price: the amount of surface to paint (square footage and ceiling height), how much trim, moulding and how many doors are included, the condition of the walls, and how many colours and coats you want.
A walls-only repaint of a standard bedroom with eight-foot ceilings is quick. Add the ceiling, baseboards, two doors and crown moulding, and the labour roughly doubles. Add a vaulted ceiling or a two-storey foyer, and it changes again.
Typical ranges for Brantford homes
The figures below are general industry ranges for Southern Ontario, not a Windfeld price list. They are a starting point so you know what to expect before you request a quote.
- Single room, walls only: a few hundred dollars, scaling with size.
- Single room with ceiling, trim and doors: roughly 1.5 to 2 times the walls-only price.
- Whole-home repaint (three-bedroom, walls and ceilings): typically in the low to mid thousands, more with trim, doors and cabinets.
- Kitchen cabinet refinishing: often less than a third of the cost of new cabinets.
The condition of your walls matters more than most people expect. Minor nail holes and scuffs are included in normal prep. Heavy patching, wallpaper removal, water damage or smoke staining take time and are quoted separately.
What is included in a Windfeld quote
Every Windfeld Painting quote is written and itemized by room, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and add or remove spaces without surprises. It covers protection of floors and furniture, standard prep (filling, sanding, caulking and spot priming), premium low-VOC paint in the sheens we agree on, two coats, cleanup and a final walkthrough with you.
We will also tell you honestly when something does not need painting, or when a different sheen or product will save you money over time.
How to get an accurate quote
Walk us through the rooms, tell us which colours you are considering, and point out anything you are worried about. Photos help, but nothing beats a ten-minute visit. Request a quote online and we will arrange a time that suits you.
Related questions
Is it cheaper to paint one room at a time?
Usually not. Setup, protection and travel are repeated for every visit. Painting several rooms in one project is almost always more cost-effective per room.
Does paint colour affect the price?
Dark or saturated colours sometimes need a tinted primer or an extra coat for full coverage, which adds a little time. We note this in the quote.
Do I need to supply the paint?
No. We supply premium paint as part of the quote and will recommend the right product and sheen for each room.
