Key takeaways
- Clear small items, wall art and breakables; we handle the big furniture.
- Confirm colours and sheens before the start date.
- Plan for pets, parking and a clear path to the work areas.
The week before
- Confirm your colours, sheens and the rooms included in the quote.
- Decide where pets will be during work hours.
- Let us know about parking, alarm codes or access instructions.
- Point out anything fragile or valuable you want handled a particular way.
The night before
- Take down wall art, mirrors, clocks and curtains in the rooms being painted.
- Clear dressers, shelves, countertops and window sills of small items.
- Remove breakables and electronics from the work areas.
- Empty closets if they are being painted.
You do not need to move large furniture or cover floors. We move and wrap furniture and protect flooring as part of every job.
On the first morning
Our crew will arrive at the agreed time, walk through the plan with you, confirm colours one more time and get set up. Most homeowners carry on with their day. If you are leaving the house, make sure we have a way to reach you with any questions.
After we leave
Avoid wiping or scrubbing new paint for about two weeks while it cures, and give painted doors and trim a few days before hanging anything on them. Keep the leftover labelled paint we give you for future touch-ups.
Related questions
Do I need to be home while you paint?
Not necessarily. Many clients give us access and check in by phone. We do like to do the final walkthrough with you in person.
What about my pets?
Curious pets and wet paint do not mix. A closed room away from the work areas, or a day at a friend's, is the safest plan.
Can you work around my schedule?
Yes. Tell us about nap times, work-from-home calls or appointments and we will plan the rooms accordingly.
